Welcome to the North Decatur website!
The footprint for the proposed City of North Decatur, in general, includes the unincorporated area in Dekalb County located south of I-85, west of I-285 and north of Atlanta, Avondale Estates and Decatur, excluding the areas presently in the cities of Brookhaven, Clarkston, and Tucker. North Decatur would incorporate a population of approximately 82,000 people (67,000 of whom are adults), and includes six council districts - two with a majority minority population. (Click on Maps for an interactive map that shows the proposed North Decatur footprint and the 6 proposed council districts.)
Upon its creation, the City of North Decatur would be responsible for planning and zoning, roads and drainage, and parks and recreation. The City would partner and collaborate with Dekalb County on public safety, continuing use of the Dekalb County Police Department and other services.
